Article, Photos, and Video by Shannon Schussler
Hands of Hope Walton Family with Monroe Mayor John Howard
Saturday early evening, April 27, Hands of Hope Walton held its second annual Remembrance Service and Butterfly Release at Childer's Park in Monroe, GA.  The park was green with springtime growth and the air had a crisp, cool breeze.  There could not have been more ideal conditions for the gathering.

Hands of Hope is a support group for families with members who have special needs.  The group honored in remembrance Keenan Freeman, Donielle Gonzalez, Cindy Pettus, and Jamari Smith.

Painted Lady Butterflies (Vanessa cardui) were released in Childer's Park on Saturday.  "The butterflies are expected to migrate back to where they are released, so we may see the babies of these butterflies next year." according to event organizer Chasity Stewart

Christian Pettus was a popular butterfly perch that day.

Speakers were Chasity Stewart and Shannon Schussler.

Running Rachel

This was Rachel's first track meet at Monroe Area High School.  She ran the 880 March 20th.

Rachel ran the 880 in Madison March 27th.  I think she greatly improved in just one week.
