The Day of the Good

Yesterday, June 26, 2013, was an interesting day.  Kevin had returned home after 48 hours on shift.  We decided to go iHop for breakfast.  Kevin was driving the truck.  It needed gasoline, and Monroe had the cheapest gas price.  Kevin pulled out of the neighborhood onto Troy Smith.  Calmly, Kevin says, "I pulled out in front of that guy."  He made a face, then we continued to the restaurant.

Our food was taking forever to arrive at the table.  We had not eaten and our server asks for our coupon to ring up our bill. (?)  A man comes up to Kevin and thanks him for his good character and expresses his gratitude for having a person like him in our community.  They shook hands and Kevin said something about not acceptable behavior especially in his job.  They exchanged pleasantries and the man left.

Kevin had to explain that the man who shook his hand was the same man who Kevin had pulled out in front of earlier.  Kevin had gone to his table and apologized.  The man's wife had said that her husband had not even put on the brakes when Kevin pulled out in front of them.

Our meal came from the kitchen in pieces.  I think they completely forgot Daniel's order and had to make it after everyone else was served.  Even though service was rocky, the food was hot.  We enjoyed our meal and waited for the check.  We waited and waited.  Then, we waited some more.  Finally, I asked the server for the bill.  She shook her head and said that it was "done."  Kevin gave me a quizzical look and said, "It (the food) was slow, but it was not that slow."

I told Kevin the man who shook his hand was the one who paid our bill.  Kevin was dumbfounded.  The server confirmed and said that he came up to her when she was ringing up the coupon.

Surprising, no?
